How To Create A Smoky Eye Effect

How To Create A Smoky Eye Effect

How To Create A Smoky Eye Effect: Make smoldering eyes your best feature. This classic smoky eye effect suits everyone and will transform your look for night time, so learn how to create it with VideoJug's help.

Step 1:

Choose A Color

A smoky eye is done with one color of eye shadow. Brown, grey, or black are good choices. Dark plum or navy are for the brave. Eyeliners should match.

Step 2:

Prep Your Lid

Apply a thin layer of foundation across your lids. Then sweep on a nude colored shadow or powder. Use a light shimmer if you’re feeling fancy.

Step 3:

Pencil In

Using your pencil, draw a line around your eyes. If you want your smoky eyes to look especially frisky, draw on your inner rims as well. Blend with a cotton swab.

Step 4:

Brush Up

Start by sweeping on a layer of shadow close to the lashline with your eyeshadow brush, diffusing the eyeliner.

With a light hand, add another layer of eye shadow and blend upward... so the the color fades evenly from lash to crease. Line the lower eye with a liner brush and diffuse with a cotton swab.

Step 5:

Finishing Touches

Use a cotton swab to blend or clean up any shadow.

Apply two coats of mascara on curled lashes to polish the smoky eye look.

I mixed the grey and plum eyeshadow to be "brave" and when I drew on my inner rims to feel "frisky", it made my eyes break out. Now I look like a clown with 2 black eyes from being brave and I have so much eye goop from the results of being frisky. I really need to find the video to help me lose my eye goop. Terrible experience!! Don't try this.

Dark eye-shadow always looks trampy. In several of these videos, the models look post-op.

Mmm, I'm not really feeling this. The blending is subpar and on her it just looks trashy, not classy. :/

Yikes, the model is beautiful but her eyelids are terribly damaged... True, it's simple and fast, but this one looked kinda trashy. Smokey eyes can look polished and clean, but it looks like you just smudged out your eyeshadow, like you were either in a rush or too lazy. It even looks like the makeup is old.

While I don't agree that natural is always prettier, I do agree that this is not a smokey eye and that it's quite trashy looking.

It that what's it's called, the "smoky eye" look? I don' like black/dark make-up on a woman. The natural look is sooo much prettier then a bunch of colors painted on.

this is definitely not a smokey eye look. It was just black eyeshadow all over! Doing a smokey eye look consists of 2 colors, not ONE!
