How To Deal With Foot Cramp

How To Deal With Foot Cramp

Stop the agony of this common muscular pain and follow VideoJug's expert advice on how to deal with foot cramp and you'll be back on your feet fast. Don't let foot cramp prevent you from being active with VideoJug's help.

Step 1:

Put weight on painful foot

As soon as you feel the pain of a cramp, put your body weight on the front of the affected foot

Step 2:

Walk around

Once the first spasm has passed, try walking the pain off.

Step 3:

Remove shoes and socks

If your foot is still in spasm, remove shoes, socks or any garments that may affect the cramp and bend or sit down still keeping the weight on the front of your foot.

Step 4:

Straighten your toes

If the toes are in severe spasm, from a sitting position, lift the foot slightly off the ground resting on the heel on the floor and try and to straighten your toes.

Step 5:

Massage the affected area

When the spasm eases gently massage the foot using your fingers until the affected area feels relaxed.

Step 6:

Pull toes back

If the cramp persists, try pulling the toes back towards you as far as they will go.

Step 7:

Repeat process

For a persistent cramp keep repeating the whole process until the pain subsides.
If you suffer with recurring cramps, contact your doctor.

my solution for foot cramp is very simple; i just jump on the front of the foot in pain and the pressure whole body jumping on that foot shows a deep massage effect i guess, i found out this by myself but it really works!

yoga is good as prevention. not advanced, just basic stretching, etc. and do not ware badly fitted shoes, it forces your foot to work harder, even when the shoes are loosely fitted. and keep your legs warm.

Although I take 300 mg quinine each night for cramps (put down to early DVT & diagnosed by GP as 'post embolic syndrome), I also take Satins for high cholesterol and heart disease. The quinine now seems to be less and less effective. I'm having frequent 'mother-of-all' night cramps in my ankle, feet and toes, with almost nightly smaller intensity cramps, which can be stopped by walking around. The ONLY thing that works when it is bad is to have a hot wheat bag - 2 mins in miocrowave - and press it down hard. I also think it is worse when I have my feet up in bed. Does anyone else have the problem of cramp as a side effect of Statins and if so, what helps you? My GP thinks there s not much that can be done.

Early this morning I was waken with massive cramp in my ankle, massage did not help at all, so my partner helped me to the bathroom floor, we thought the cold floor would help, it may hav it the cramp was in my foot, I decided to try a cold wet flannel and after 10mins of agony a simple cold wet flannel had taken it away, so I hope this helps, GOOD LUCK ..
