How To Prevent Frizzy Curls In Humidity

How To Prevent Frizzy Curls In HumidityFor many women, humidity means one thing - frizz. Fear not frizzy ladies! In just four, simple steps, Celebrity hair stylist Robert Steinken is going to show you how to keep your curly hair from frizzing when the air is dripping. So you'll look and feel beautiful no matter what the weather.

You will Need

Step 1:

Frizz-Free Products

Apply an anti-humectant or silicone-based serum to your hands. Rub your hands together to evenly distribute the hair product. If, in your zeal, you wind up with too much product on your palm, just blot the excess on a towel.

Step 2:

Start Scrunching

Now that your hands are properly coated with product, begin to gently scrunch your curls from the ends of your hair up. Starting at the end of the hair shaft and working to the root, will help you avoid a greasy look.

Step 3:

Scrunch A Bunch

Continue scrunching your curls until the product is evenly distributed throughout your hair. As you scrunch your curls will become more defined and less frizzy, as the anti-humectant serum seals the outer layer of your hair. The amount of product and scrunching you'll need depends on your hair texture; the more coarse your hair, the more serum and scrunching required.

Step 4:

Finishing Spray

Once you have achieved, gorgeous, frizz-free curls, finish your hair with a light-oil based spray. This will add shine and a moisture barrier. Keep a travel-size bottle of the product with you for any touch ups during the day. Do not, under any circumstances, brush, comb or run your fingers through your hair...you will fro.

Done.

I have wavy and curly hair...that vid did nothing... here is what i do.. I use a shampoo and a conditioner like Nexxus, Biosiolk, or REDkin, something that is for moister, even Pantnee curl (pink bottle is best!) You need a leave in conditioner, as well as a biosilk serum, scrunch, scrunch is best or a light comb and brush lightly! put i also towel dry my hair and leave it wrapped for a good while, another secert... i lay down on the bed and let my hair do its natural curls...:-) plus layers are best for us! key here layer your hair!

Here's what to do - been doing it for 5 years with my dry curly hair. 1. Get a copy of the book "Curly Girl" - it'll change your life. 2. NO SHAMPOO EVER - there is enough detergent in just plain conditioner. Yes, I wash my hair every day with CONDITIONER. It's very clean. When I get too much product buildup for the conditioner to handle I wash my hair with baking soda and water. (Read "Curly Girl" - it explains everything.) Product to use right after washing with conditioner (or just re-wetting hair if it doesn't need washing) get Curls Rock by TIGI. Many ppl use this the wrong way. Use it right and you'll love it. I have shoulder length hair. I put about a 1/4 inch long squirt of Curls Rock in my hand and run a bit of warm water over it. Then rub, rub, rub the Curls Rock between your hands. Don't put it in your hair until you don't see the white of the product anymore. If it's white when you put it in your hair it will be gross. If it isn't white, you did it right. Air dry and go. NO FRIZZ and you'll love your hair for the first time in your life. You won't miss the bubbles from the shampoo and your hair will reward you. Disclaimer - the no shampoo method is for ppl with dry hair. If you have oily hair it won't work. Trust me on this one. READ "CURLY GIRL" and don't look back.

Her hair was VERY far from curly! I was my hair then comb through it in the shower(i dont comb through it ever again after that!) then i put a bit of oil on the ends and right in the back...i put moose(i just started putting that, i wouldnt think i would like it cause i dont like my hairl to be stiff but it doesnt!...the oil tales away from the stiffness) then let it dry naturally for a bit, then when my curls start to form i blow dry with a defuser, apply some oil spray the a bit more moose on the roots...the i put all my hair up in a REALLY LOOSE, VERY HIGH pony tail let that sit a bit then blow dry while in the pony tail...then take it down and its beautiful! i have never had anything work better...REALLY! it stays in all day with the rain and everything! And my hair is really curlly...straight it goes down to the middle of my back and curly its right above my shoulders! you should try it! TRUST ME!

Guys, I live in the Caribbean with 80% humidity and I can tell you that that is NOT the way to do it. ========================== First, after shapooing and deep conditioning (always moisturise curly hair!) towel dry hair and add a little bit of leave-in conditioner and make sure it's spread evenly throughout the hair. Then use one of those silicon anti frizz serums or just any of your choice to your hair and spread it evenly. Comb it through. Remember to do that on TOWEL DRIED (wet/damp) hair. Don't comb dry curls EVER. You will get a huge 'fro and cause breakage. After you comb it through part it where you want or scrunch it if you want. But remember, the more you scrunch it, the curlier it gets, the more volume your hair gets. When you scrunch it, do like the guy did with a little bit of serum on your hands to ensure that the ends stick. Now either air dry or use a hair-dryer with a DIFFUSER attachment. When you use the diffuser, you bascally scrunch your hair with the attachent instead of your hand. For this also the more you scrunch with the diffuser, the more curls and volume. Do this until dry. If you air dry, try to refrain from touching it too much. I prefer the diffuser, the curls come out really well defined. I just bend over with my hair down and scrunch it with the diffuser, that's the easiest way to do it. After this you can use an anti frizz mist but don't run your fingers though your hair. Try it this way and you won't be disappointed! If it doesn't work you can come back and yell at me :-P

I have very curly hair, this video did not help that much! What I do is, wash and condition my hair, apply a leave in conditioner and put in a curl enhancing product, this helps to remove frizz and enhace the curl, I use sunsilk. Then I let it dry naturally, hey it works for me!

Obviously this guy has had limited experience with curly/frizzy hair. I have her type hair and in my experience it is best like a previous poster said: to apply the product when your hair is damp, and also after it has dried.

I still see frizz! I only like my curls when the're wet, or stiff with a "wet look" product. If dry, it's too fat. And yes NO COMBING WHEN DRY.

That didn't look so great, nor different. The best way to do it if you have strong curls like hers, that aren't straight when hair is wet, is to drench the hair, shake your head to get rid of excess moisture, and scrunch with product as the hair dries naturally. She's right about the brushing and combing though.
