How To Treat Dandruff

How To Treat DandruffDandruff is a common problem for many people and people can be embarrassed by their itchy, flaky scalp. Videojug has put together this guide to treat and prevent dandruff

Step 1:

What is dandruff?

There is a lot of confusion about what dandruff really is. Sometimes what appears to be dandruff is actually just dry skin naturally flaking from your scalp.
Dandruff is caused by a naturally occurring fungus and can effect people with either dry or oily skin.

Step 2:

Treatment

If you are already suffering from dandruff, do not fear, there are plenty of treatments on the shop shelves that are designed purely to deal with it. These are usually specially medicated shampoos. Always remember to read the label on any products and follow any instructions before you use it.

Step 3:

Prevention

Although it can be hard to prevent dandruff, there are a number of tricks you can use to reduce your chances of having to deal with flaky and itchy scalp.
These include making sure that hair is thoroughly rinsed when using hair products and not using strong chemical products in your hair.

I just wanted to comment on the "dirty hair" comment. I have extreme dandruff. I have tried every shampoo out there and unfortunatly have found nothing that works. I "presoak" just fine I enjoy my showers such as much people that I know do. I leave on my anit-dandruff shampoo for as long as I am directed too and rinset throughly. I find it ignorant that this "person" thinks that a condition of the skin is some how a persons fault and that they are the cause of it. I don't feel that this person would comment the same way to an individual who had a skin condition on their arm or face. You should do more research before you make ignorant comments. If you have helpful suggestions as to how to improve the problem.

I did some research on dandruff and I found that the intake of zink and using a shampoo with zink in it gets rid of the flakes and iching and balances out the fungus on the scalp.

You are all wrong. Look up Acid Mantle. Every living breathing creature has one. Redken figured this all out about 1975. Unfortunately Redken sold to Loreal after a major fire. I do not trust Loreal to maintain the same quality product line as Redken had in the 70's & 80's. Dermatologists will not tell you about your acid mantle because it is their job to sell you a bunch of crap. Besides look at most Dermatologist, their hair is all screwed up. Isn't it amazing. 99% of all products on the market are not compatible with your acid mantle. Plus most people are just plain dirty. Most people do not wash enough. Most people treat a shower as a job. They spend 5 to 10 minutes and do a lousy job washing, achieve bad results and think they have a medical condition. Have you ever left dirty dishes out overnight and tried to wash them the next morning in 5 to 10 minutes. It can't be done because of the dried on gunk. The dishes have to be soaked so the gunk comes off. It is not rocket science. That is what is going on with most of you people with skin and hair problems. You are dirty and you are not PRE-SOAKING-LONG-ENOUGH. A shower should be a luxuries rejuvenating event. If you want world class hair and skin. Hair that is naturally glassy and skin that glistens. Step1. Shower every day 15 to 20 minutes and scrub your scalp TWICE with an acid balanced shampoo. Paul Mitchell #2 is great. Paul Mitchell Awaphui Shampoo for wavy curly hair is great. They can be used on your whole body. Stay away from medicated shampoos, stay away from shampoo and conditioner all in one shampoos (they contain wax and oils). Stay away from hot oil treatments. Hair contains TWO ingredients, #1 Protein #2 Water... Nothing else. Hot oil is not water therefore it can not moisturize. Oil and waxes hide the damage and cause more damage by attracting dust, dirt and oil which then suck the moisture out of your hair like a sponge. Nothing beats that fresh scrubbed look. One more thing... when you dry your with a towel, DO-NOT-RUB-IT !!! Blot with a towel. When you look at hair under a microscope it looks like a rope on the inside and the outside (cuticle layer) looks like shingles on a house. Hair has a grain direction. If you rub it (most hairdressers do) the hair becomes fuzzy. If you use a Boar Bristle Brush, (a Boar is a pig, pig hair has cuticle) your hair is going to lose. Your hair will be fuzzy. Stick to plastic or rubber brushes and combs for world class shine-ee hair. I could go on for an hour but,,, I wish you well.

I'm not sure if I have dandruff or not. The flakes aren't large they're very small actually I've tried shampoos (medicated and non) they don't work they make my hair frizzy or fly aways it's really a pain in the butt. I think maybe I just have dry scalp..I dunno.

TRY TRADITIONAL INDIAN METHOD:- Gently massage with Almond Oil (or Olive oil) up to you feel the oil touching your skin underneath your hair. Massage for at least 15 Minutes.Leave your hair for about 3 to 4 hour and then wash your hair. that will take your 80% dandruff if it is extreme. keep repeating the treatment for 3 days before you go for bath. then once in a week for healthy shine air. I suggest to chose week off. at this time you no need to wait for 3 hours. you can wash your hair straight after 15 min massage. In INDIA, people use this method to prevent hair from dust and very hot sunny weather.

Steep for 1/2 hour.Stain into a bottle.Pour vinegar shake well, gently massage a small amount into the scalp after shampooing and rinsing prope not wash hair after application. towel dry hair.
