How To Use Hair Straighteners

How To Use Hair StraightenersHair straighteners can turn frizzy hair in to a sleek and smooth style in minutes. Watch this short video to see how the experts at Falltricks Academy use a hair straightener to best effect.

Step 1:

You will need:

  • Hair straighteners
  • A comb
  • A rounded brush
  • heat protective serum

Step 2:

Straighteners

If you will be straightening your hair often, we recommend ceramic straighteners. Metal straighteners are a cheaper alternative, but damage easily.

Step 3:

Hair preparation

If you blow dry your hair, angle the hair dryer downwards and brush through while you are drying. A heat protective serum will prevent your hair from becoming damaged by the straighteners.

Step 4:

Straightener preparation

Your hair straighteners will need some time to heat up - always follow the manufacturer's instructions. Place them on a non-flammable surface while they are heating.

Step 5:

Straightening

Clip most of your hair up, leaving one manageable section. Take part of this and carefully place it in the straighteners. Start at the root, and slowly work your way down. Repeat this action until the hair straightens. Keep working in sections to straighten the rest of your hair. This will take time. Using a comb will ensure the hair is evenly spread in the straighteners. Go over the ends of your hair again to disguise the individual sections.

Step 6:

Styling

We recommend using a shine spray or a lock out lotion to maintain the style.

    I'll have to agree. The product usage was interesting, but showing people who to straighten hair on a person who already has straight has is rather useless.

    Does anyone know how to keep hair straight ?? I tryed washing my hair without using conditioner then blow drying it the way it shows you and done the rest of the steps it shows you but when i step outside it goes wavy again anyhelp ???

    SHUT UP STUPID COMMENTERS! The video was fine any idiot can see her hair is streight you don't need to point it out to us! The video tought me to use a protective heat spray so it's fine. & Because of idiot commenters I now have to read through 10,000 moronic comments to get to the helpfull ones such as WHY to blow dry the hair and that wax is better then spray.

    to the girl who wants to find a hairdresser- try the training schools of big brand hairdressers. A) The Trainees are all watched by professional hairdressers. B) It costs a fraction of the price. C) You get to enjoy up to 4 hours (!) of pampering.

    The girl in the clip already had straight hair, so it's not very realistic. I have curly hair and I've just straightened it, now it's pin straight. My secrets: 1) Straighten your hair with a hair dryer and a round brush before using the straightener; if you don't, your hair will only stay straight for a couple of minutes; 2) Use wax instead of hair spray. It does wonders: hair will remain straight for a longer time and will look silky, things which you don't achieve if you use hair spray; 3) Make sure your hair is perfectly dry before you straighten it.
